I had taken tomorrow morning off from work to get in a nice run without this awful heat. But it looks like I won't get to run for a few days now because during warm up before the frisbee game tonight, some guy ran into me and stepped on my calf. I didn't fall, but it hurt so much that I wasn't sure how to stand at first. I wasn't quite sure to worry about it. It hurt, but I don't know what it is. Eventually, I shook it off and played on. I didn't have my full speed, and I can feel the calf pulling my leg down whenever I run, but i was doing okay. I I even had a few catches, a score, and a "d." (This is very good for me, btw.)
After the game, the injury caught up to me. The calf muscle increasingly felt hard, as if a big knot had formed inside. I was limping around and walking gingerly across the fields. When I touch the calf slightly, it hurt. We ended up not staying for the barbecue and went home to ice. Noah thinks the injury will get worse before it gets better. Since it doesn't involve the joints or anything, I think it will heal on its own. I'll just RICIE it and hope that I can jog around Thursday morning.
People, stand back. "There can be nothing worse than an injured runner. Whine, whine, whine. Fuss, fuss, fuss." (From the Competitive Runner's Handbook)
p.s. I need to find a nicer template for this blog, preferably with images of trees and grass or blue skies.
